1st Female Sergeant In Elmhurst Police History
She is certified as a lead homicide and sex assault investigator.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst on Monday swore in its first female police sergeant in its history.
Officer Colleen Bruketta was promoted to the rank of sergeant during a City Council meeting.
Elmhurst has hired seven women as police officers in the last five years, according to the city. Fourteen percent of the local police force are female, just above the national rate of 13 percent, the city said.

The police department "continues to actively recruit the best candidates of all backgrounds to serve our community," city spokeswoman Kassondra Schref said in an email.
Bruketta joined the police department 11 years ago, according to a city news release. Her roles have included patrol officer, mission team officer and detective.

Her specialty assignments have included juvenile officer, DARE officer, bike officer and recruiting team officer.
Bruketta finished a two-year assignment in investigations, where she was certified as a lead homicide and sex assault investigator.
She holds a bachelor's degree in law enforcement and justice administration from Western Illinois University.
