2 Arrested In Elmhurst Domestic Disturbances: Police

In both cases, men struck women during arguments, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In recent days, Elmhurst police responded to cases involving domestic battery, retail theft and broken windows. Here is information from the reports:

Domestic battery

  • A 35-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 900 block of Kirk Street was arrested Tuesday on a domestic battery charge. A woman told police the man shoved her during an argument about 8:30 a.m. Saturday at his house. The man left before officers arrived. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
  • A 29-year-old Chicago man was arrested Tuesday on two counts of domestic battery. Police said the man struck a woman during an argument about 11:30 a.m. Oct. 12 at Jewel, 944 S. York St. The man turned himself in at the Elmhurst police station. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
  • A person in the 1000 block of South Riverside Drive told police that someone else threw an object at him about 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The victim reported no injuries, left afterward and does not want the suspect arrested. The incident was listed as domestic battery. An investigation is pending.

Retail theft

  • A 29-year-old Bensenville woman was arrested Oct. 30 on a retail theft charge. Police said the woman stole several items last November at Mariano's, 678 N. York St. The woman was released.

Broken windows

  • Someone broke the rear window of a car overnight Sunday at Courtyard by Marriott, 370 N. Route 83. The rear window of another car was broken about 9 a.m. Monday at the same hotel. Nothing appeared to be stolen in either case.

  • A resident in the 600 block of North Kenilworth Avenue told police that someone forced open the back door to the basement overnight Monday. Nothing appeared to be stolen. Property management has been contacted.
