2 Disturbances On Elmhurst Residential Block: Cops
In another case, a man at an Elmhurst restaurant said he was the victim of an Apple Pay scam, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving disturbances, a scam, a cat and dog fight, an allergic reaction, retail theft and battery. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Disturbances
- Two mask-wearing suspects threw a metal object at the driver's side window of a car shortly after midnight Monday in the 400 block of North Ridgeland Avenue. The suspects fled when the homeowner's son confronted them. In a previous disturbance, after hearing a suspicious noise about 11:30 p.m. Friday, a resident in the same block saw that her car's windows were broken. It was unclear whether both disturbances happened at the same house.

- A man at Portillo's, 155 S. Route 83, was approached by a man asking for funeral donations about 3 p.m. Thursday. The man agreed to donate to the suspect through Apple Pay. After the payment went through, the victim noticed the transfer went through for a larger amount of money than he transferred. The victim contacted his bank and froze his account. An investigation is pending. The suspect was described as a black man, 20 to 30 years old, 6 feet, 215 pounds and having black dreadlocks.
Cat and dog fight
- Victims told police they suffered injuries to their hands about 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of West Park Avenue while trying to break up a fight between their cat and foster dog. The victims were taken to the hospital. DuPage County Animal Services was notified.
Allergic reaction

- An officer and medics responded to a person having an allergic reaction about 1 a.m. Thursday. The person said he was having a hard time breathing after consuming edible marijuana. Medics took the person to Elmhurst Hospital.
Retail theft
- A man and a woman committed retail theft about 5:30 p.m. Friday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. An investigation is pending. The man was described as black, 35 to 45, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-10, on crutches, and wearing a black hat and blue jeans. She was described as white, with her brown hair tied up, and wearing a white sweater and dark pants.
- A retail theft occurred about 1 p.m. Thursday at CVS Pharmacy, 110 W. North Ave. An officer tried to stop the suspect's red Nissan Altima, but the suspect sped away, last seen heading east on North Avenue. The suspect was described as a white woman, 25 to 50 years old, and having a medium build and brown hair.
- Someone stole a bottle of liquor about 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Jewel, 944 S. York St. An investigation is pending.
Medical assistance
- A man became upset and broke a light, which cut his hand, about 9 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of North Berteau Avenue. Medics showed up, but the man refused further medical treatment.
Battery
- A man told police he was walking in a hallway about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of South West Avenue when a neighboring tenant bumped his shoulder in passing. The other tenant denied the incident took place. The first resident said he wanted the incident documented.
