2 Elmhurst Restaurants Burglarized: Cops
An officer saw a car speeding away from the break-ins, according to a report.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving burglaries, a disturbance, check fraud, theft and a scam. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Burglaries
- An officer saw the driver of a gray Dodge Challenger speeding away about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday from Domino's and Subway in the 1000 block of South York Street. The restaurants were burglarized and the front glass doors shattered.

- A man told police that his girlfriend would not let him leave after an argument about 9 a.m. Monday in the 100 block of South Pick Street. After officers arrived, the man and woman separated without any problems.
Check fraud
- A resident told police that she placed a check on March 4 in the post office's mailbox at Cottage Hill and Park. The box was later reported as burglarized. She said someone changed the check amount and deposited it into an unknown account. She was advised to report the fraud to the post office.
Theft

- A package went missing Monday after it was delivered to the UPS Store, 205 E. Butterfield Road. An investigation is pending.
- A man locked his bicycle about 3 p.m. March 24 at a bike rack at Elmhurst University, 190 S. Prospect Ave. When he returned April 4, it was gone. He reported the theft eight days after that.
Scam
- A resident in the 600 block of North Emroy told police Wednesday that he received an email and called the associated number. A person answering the phone told him to withdraw money from his bank and deposit it into a bitcoin ATM and send the machine-readable code via text message. The resident later determined the scheme was fraudulent. An investigation is pending.
