2 Go To Hospital In Elmhurst Crash: Cops
The teen lost control, saying he may have been driving too fast, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – A crash last week near York High School resulted in an 18-year-old driver and his friend going to the hospital, police said.
The 18-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 200 block of East Vallette Street was charged with reckless driving, failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident and damaging city property.
Shortly before 9 p.m. July 29, the man had just picked up a female in Villa Park and was heading east on St. Charles Road in a 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe, police said.

At the traffic light at Berkley Avenue, which is in front of York High, the man took a left.
He then crashed into a light pole, which came down, according to a police report obtained through a public records request. He also damaged a tree trunk.

When police arrived, they found the female lying on the ground, the report said.
In an interview at Elmhurst Hospital, the man said he lost control of the car and crashed into the pole, according to the report. He said he may have been driving too fast.
The passenger told police the man crashed all of a sudden after making the turn.
The report did not give details on the condition of the driver and passenger.
