2 Home Burglaries Reported In Elmhurst
The break-ins were a block away from each other, according to police reports.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving burglaries, a chronic nuisance warning, an unattended fire, harassment, reckless driving and damage. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst reports:
Burglaries
- Officers responded to a residential burglary alarm about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of South Kenilworth Avenue. Officers found open doors. They cleared the house. No items were reported stolen. An investigation is pending.
- A resident in the 300 block of South Arlington reported a bathroom window open after returning from a week-long vacation Monday. Someone had gone through her children's drawers and a backpack. No signs of forced entry could be found. The only stolen item was a Sour Patch Kids candy. This burglary was a block from the other one.
Chronic nuisance

- A chronic nuisance warning was issued Wednesday to a house in the 200 block of South Pick Avenue. This was after Nicholas Romano, 34, was arrested last week on a charge of domestic battery.
Unattended fire
- Officers responded to an unattended fire about 9 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of West Fay Avenue. A person there was found to be in violation of a court order and was not allowed at the house. The report was forwarded to the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office for possible charges.
Suspicious

- Someone has been posting a variety of items for sale on Craigslist, saying they are available at Extra Space Storage, 160 W. Industrial. People are showing up about the items, which are not there. An investigation is pending. The report was filed Monday.
Harassment
- A resident in the 300 block of West North Avenue told police that he received 35 text messages and six phone calls over a little more than two hours Monday. They were from his mother, who was cursing. The mother was told not to call her son anymore.
Reckless driving
- The riders of three-wheel motorcycles told police that someone came from behind and tried to run them off the road a number of times about 10 p.m. Monday near Roosevelt and York. The suspect was in a Ford Mustang. An officer plans to interview the suspect.
Damage
- An air conditioner was punctured by an unknown object on May 30 or May 31 in the 100 block of North Avon.
Identity theft
- A resident on the 200 block of North Illinois Street told police Wednesday that someone used her personal information to open several credit cards. The resident contacted credit agencies and canceled the cards. No loss was reported.
