$256K Deal To Improve Elmhurst Sidewalks
The work includes sidewalks on major streets. Aldermen are set to vote on the contract next week.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst is about to hire a company to replace thousands of square feet of sidewalk.
On Tuesday, the City Council is set to vote on approving a $256,000 contract with Skokie-based Schroeder & Schroeder, the low bidder.
Under the contract, the company will remove and replace 14,350 square feet of concrete sidewalk. The work also may include some curb and gutter improvements.

The contract also features two major projects. One is the installation of a new sidewalk along the south side of Butterfield Road, between Euclid Avenue and the entrance to a nearby development, according to a city memo.
The second one is the removal and replacement of the sidewalk along the north side of St. Charles Road between Oakland Grove Avenue and Monterey Avenue, a total of 2,600 square feet, the memo said.

The city is footing all the costs of sidewalk squares damaged by parkway tree roots. It is covering half of the costs of other sidewalks.
