4 Proposed Courses At York High School
No school board members expressed opposition to the courses.

ELMHURST, IL – York High School is proposing four new courses, with the school board getting information this week.
At a meeting, board members expressed no opposition to the proposals. They are expected to decide on them next month.

- Engineering Design & Development (Honors): This course is replacing Architectural Drafting STEM Applications to complete Project Lead the Way's engineering design sequence and is set to become part of the engineering pathway.
- Journalism & New Media: This course is replacing two separate courses – Journalism and Broadcast Communications – to create a single prerequisite course for the school's journalism course sequence. It is also expected to shift the focus to modern principles in new media.
- Advanced Placement Literature & Culture: This course is required for students who have taken part in the accelerated World Language pathway in middle school and are opting to take four years of Spanish at York. The course is not needed until the 2024-25 school year. There are no plans to run it in the 2023-24 year.
- Business Accelerator (Honors): This is a second-year course offered to students in the Business INCubator to provide opportunities to launch businesses.
