40 Marijuana Plants In Elmhurst Neighborhood: Cops

Such plants must be outside of public view under Illinois law.

ELMHURST, IL – Forty marijuana plants were in public view growing on a property in the 800 block of South Hillside Avenue in Elmhurst, police said.

Police were alerted to the plants Friday. A suspect was placed under arrest and taken to the police station, according to a report. He was released without charges, pending lab results.

Under Illinois law, only those with state medical marijuana cards can grow marijuana. They must be 21 or older.

Those with the state cards can grow up to five cannabis plants inside their homes. They must be in locked rooms, with no access to anyone under 21. They also must be outside public view.
