5-Year-Old Enlisted To Steal In Elmhurst: Cops

In other cases, two men were arrested on charges of domestic battery, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In recent days, Elmhurst police arrested people on charges of retail theft, domestic battery, DUI and drug possession. Here is information from the reports:

Retail theft

  • Carlos Lopez Lopez, 33, Hanover Park, was cited about 3:30 p.m. Friday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, on charges of retail theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Police said Lopez directed his 5-year-old son to leave the store through an emergency exit with $233 in stolen merchandise. Lopez was issued a no-trespass notice. He was released on bond.

  • Gabriel Crispin-Hernandez, 38, of Wood Dale, was arrested Thursday in the 100 block of East Schiller Street on a charge of domestic battery. The incident was about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. He was involved in a fight with a woman in the Schiller parking deck. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
  • Daniel J. Pickens, 25, of Chicago, was arrested about 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of East First Street on charges of domestic battery, criminal damage to property and possession of marijuana. Police said Pickens spat on a woman and caused damage to a relative's car. Pickens was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Theft

  • Kenard Jarrett, 29, of Chicago, was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Sunday at LA Fitness, 620 N. York St., on charges of burglary and identity theft. Police said a customer at LA Fitness locked his personal items while he was working out. Afterward, several credit cards were missing from his wallet. Jarrett was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

DUI

  • Juan Hinojosa, 45, of Willowbrook, was arrested about 10 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of North York Street on charges of DUI, unlawful use of a weapon, driving with a suspended license and speeding. Police said they found a gun on the passenger side floorboard. Hinojosa was released on bond.
  • Lukas Flores, 20, of Bensenville, was arrested about 10 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of North Addison Avenue on charges of DUI, leaving the scene of an accident involving damage to an attended vehicle, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver and possession of alcohol by a driver. He was released on bond.
  • Juwan White, 26, of Palos Hills, was arrested about 5:30 a.m. Saturday at Arthur and York streets on charges of DUI, driving the wrong way on a one-way street, disobeying a stop sign, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, suspended registration and possession of marijuana. He was released on bond.
  • Santiago Pascual Hernandez, 28, of Bensenville, was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at North Avenue and York Street on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, aggravated DUI, forgery, obstructing justice, no valid driver's license, criminal damage to property, failure to yield turning left and leaving the scene of an accident. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
  • Danisha Eiland, 44, of Chicago, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Thursday at York Street and North Avenue on charges of DUI, driving without a valid license, driving an uninsured vehicle, and stopping or parking in the roadway. Police said her car was disabled. She was released on bond.
