9U Elmhurst Cougars win First Tournament

On April 19, 2014 the 9U Elmhurst Cougars completed a perfect 4 and 0 run to become the champions of the Game Day USA Battle for the Bunny tournament. It was quite a weekend for these young boys; this is a new Cougar team of full-time travelers in their first tournament together as Elmhurst Cougars. 

For the tournament the Cougars tallied 54 runs in the while allowing 18.  The offensive firepower featured 47 hits spread across the 4 games; and 10 pitchers combined to deliver 31 strike-outs and where charged with only 13 earned runs. 

The 2014 9U Cougars are, in alphabetical order: Ryan Booth, Nolan Crowell, William Czech, Zach Despinich, Sean Garcia, Cameron Gifford, Tyler Nehls, Frankie Nicosia, Ryan Procajlo, Michael Sumner, Matt Sutter, and Matt Vezza.  The 9U Elmhurst Cougars are managed by Mark Sutter, who is assisted by Bob Gifford, Todd Vezza, and Jeff Crowell.

This Cougar team is a member of the Elmhurst Cougars Baseball and Softball Club. Formed in 1992, the Cougars are Elmhurst’s oldest full-time youth travel baseball and softball organization. For their 22nd year the Cougars are fielding eight baseball and four fast-pitch softball teams for youth aged 8 through 15.
