Airsoft Shooting, Resisting: Elmhurst Cops

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving an airsoft shooting, a man resisting arrest, a missing truck, a weapons charge, a fall, damage, DUI and theft. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Airsoft shooting

  • Someone in a silver sedan shot a female pedestrian with an airsoft gun shortly before midnight Friday at North and Maple avenues. The sedan was last seen headed west on North Avenue. An investigation is pending.

  • A 37-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 10 block of Willow Tree Court was arrested about 6:30 p.m. Friday at Whole Foods, 215 S. Route 83, on a DuPage County Sheriff's Office warrant and a charge of resisting arrest. Police said they were called about a suspicious car. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Missing truck

  • A truck driver told police Friday that she parked her semi-truck in September at Super Ego Holding, 677 N. Larch Ave. She returned a few months later to find that it was no longer in the lot. She said a GPS tracker indicated the truck crossed the border into Mexico several times. An investigation is pending.

  • Yolistlaman Cervantes, 25, of Cicero, was arrested about 5:30 p.m. Sunday at First Street and West Avenue on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon (three counts), unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver, tinted windows and improper display of registration. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Fall

  • A person fell into a window well and could not get out about 9 a.m. Thursday in the 300 block of West Fremont Avenue. The person, who was taken to the hospital, suffered minor scrapes and a sprained ankle from the fall.

Damage

  • A small hole was found in the front window of a house in the 100 block of East Knighton Place. The damage was believed to have occurred about 9:30 p.m. May 22.
  • A resident in the 600 block of North Michigan Street found his damaged mailbox, mounting post and cement block lying in the middle of the street about 11:30 a.m. Thursday. It appeared forcefully pulled from the ground.

Jewelry theft

  • A resident in the 400 block of North Emery Lane told police Friday that four of his wife's rings were missing from a dress shirt pocket from the house. He did not know whether the rings were stolen or misplaced, but an HVAC contractor was in the house. The resident asked the theft be documented for insurance purposes.

DUI

  • A 30-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 3 a.m. Sunday at Interstate 290 and North Avenue on charges of DUI, possession of a concealed weapon while under the influence, driving an uninsured car and improper lighting. He was taken to the police station and released.
  • A 27-year-old Elk Grove Village woman was arrested about 4 a.m. Saturday at Route 83 and Interstate 290 on charges of DUI, improper lane usage, transportation of open alcohol and unlawful possession of marijuana. She was taken to the police station and released.
  • A 45-year-old Bensenville man was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Lake Street and Route 83 on charges of DUI, improper lane usage and improper lighting. He was taken to the police station and released.
