Altercation, Retail Theft: Elmhurst Cops

Officers responded to a fight, but the parties were uncooperative, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police responded to cases involving an altercation, retail theft, a stolen check, a scam and an order of protection. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Altercation

  • Police responded to a fight about 5 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Schiller Street. The parties were separated, but they were uncooperative, saying nothing happened. No arrests were made.

  • An employee at T-Mobile, 361 S. Route 83, noticed an Apple Watch was missing from a display at the end of a shift. It was stolen between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday. The theft was reported the next day.
  • A man stole two bottles of liquor and a box of diapers about 4 p.m. Wednesday at Walgreens, 160 N. Robert Palmer Drive. He was last seen heading north on Palmer. The man was described as black, 5-foot-9, having a short afro, and wearing a black T-shirt, tan pants and a black backpack.
  • A woman was seen putting many clothing items in a cart and then leaving without paying for them about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. An investigation is pending.

Stolen check

  • A resident in the 600 block of South Fairfield Avenue told police Tuesday that he was notified by the post office while on vacation about his individual mail being held for his return. The resident received all but an envelope containing a check. The postal inspector was informed of the theft.

  • A resident in the 300 block of West Elm Park Avenue told police Wednesday he received a call from someone claiming to be from Chase Bank. The person said he had a pending unauthorized withdrawal on his account for $55,000. The resident had no suspicious or unauthorized activity on his account, but was advised to close the account and open a new one.

Order of protection

  • A resident in the 300 block of East Madison Street told police Wednesday that a suspect was in violation of an order of protection. An investigation is pending.
