On Saturday, May 7th at 7:00 p.m., live jazz returns to Music at Bethel's concert series with a performance by the Alyssa Allgood Quartet. The in-person concert is to be presented in Bethel’s acoustically pleasing sanctuary and will showcase jazz vocalist Alyssa Allgood. With inspired improvisation chops, soprano Allgood breathes new life into the great American Songbook in the style of Ella Fitzgerald and Betty Carter (known as Betty Bebop).
Allgood is also a gifted composer of fresh original jazz pieces.
Chicago Tribune’s former music critic Howard Reich described Allgood as “A fast-rising Chicago singer, who combines an unpretentious stage manner with a sophisticated jazz sensibility.”
