Oak Brook Cop Had 'Inappropriate Relationships' With Female Employees: Village

OAK BROOK, IL – A top Oak Brook police official had "inappropriate relationships" with at least two female employees, according to a village investigation.

When the allegations surfaced last year, the village said it immediately placed Deputy Chief Reid Foltyniewicz on leave.

According to a village report labeled "harassment allegations," the police department determined that Foltyniewicz had inappropriate relationships with two employees.

A third female employee who filed a complaint declined to fully participate in the investigation, so her allegation was determined to be unfounded, the report said.

Foltyniewicz resigned immediately upon being notified that he would be interrogated, according to the report. Because he had left, the village said it was unable to take further disciplinary action.

His conduct was reported to the appropriate authorities as required under state law, the village said.

Appropriate notices were filed with the state Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board seeking Foltyniewicz's decertification.

The report said Foltyniewicz violated police department policies in the following areas:

• Harassment
• Use of department vehicles
• Sleeping, lounging or loitering while on duty
• Incapacity or inefficiency while on duty
• Unauthorized use of department property
• Leaving post without permission
• Exercise of authority

Through a public records request, Patch obtained the report's "executive summary." It filed a new request Thursday for the rest of the report.

Foltyniewicz, who started with the police department in 2007, submitted his letter of resignation in November after about three years in the deputy chief's job.

Foltyniewicz was a member of Lombard's Village Board from 2013 to 2021.

According to his LinkedIn page, Foltyniewicz now consults as an "executive risk and security strategy advisor."

He did not return a message for comment from earlier this week.
