1. 81-Year-Old Elmhurst Man Trespasses At Local School: Cops (patch.com) — Elmhurst residents may want to know that recent police reports include the arrest of an 81-year-old Elmhurst man accused of trespassing at Emerson Elementary School while classes were in session. Officers also handled a domestic trespass case involving another Elmhurst man, along with separate incidents of battery, theft at Whole Foods on Route 83, and car damage around town.
   

2. Elmhurst Park District May Be Taken To Court For Blocking Bandshell Petition (patch.com) — Elmhurst residents are watching a growing showdown over the Park District's proposed bandshell, as petition organizers consider court action after more than 1,100 signatures for an advisory referendum were rejected. The dispute centers on whether state law allows citizen-led park district referendums and on strong neighborhood opposition to placing the bandshell on Wilder Mansion's east lawn, which now heads to the Plan Commission for review.
   

3. Man Scammed Elmhurst Restaurants Out Of Customers' Credit Cards: Police (patch.com) — Elmhurst police say a man from New York allegedly scammed three downtown Elmhurst restaurants at lunchtime by claiming he left his card, then taking customers' credit cards from the registers. A fourth Elmhurst restaurant called 911, leading to a brief chase and arrest. Police are urging Elmhurst businesses to stay alert for credit card and quick-change scams.
   

4. Sexual Battery On Elmhurst's Illinois Prairie Path, Suspect Seen On Camera: Police (patch.com) — Elmhurst residents are being warned after a woman was sexually battered while running on the Illinois Prairie Path between York Street and Pioneer Park in Elmhurst. Police released a description of the suspect, seen on camera riding an electric scooter west on Vallette Street, and issued an alert to nearby Elmhurst neighborhoods. Residents are urged to stay vigilant on the path.
   

5. North Central Picked to Repeat in Women's Soccer Preseason Poll (cciw.org) — Elmhurst University's women's soccer team is picked to tie for fourth in the CCIW preseason poll, returning 10 starters and several all-conference standouts, including All-Region defender Nora Simon. The conference slate starts Sept. 23 when Elmhurst visits Augustana, with top teams advancing to a November tournament hosted by higher seeds and free streaming all season on the CCIW Network.
