Nicole DeBoom, professional triathlete and entrepreneur, runs with The Runner's Soul
A recent fun run held June 13th at The Runner's Soul in La Grange with the Chicago Triathlete Luna Chix team was greatly highlighted by a guest appearance by Nicole DeBoom, professional triathlete and winner of the 2004 Ironman Wisconsin, as well as CEO and founder of Skirt Sports. 13 weeks pregnant, and looking fantastic and comfortable in a zebra striped running dress from her line, Nicole shared her energy and passion for running by partaking in the weekly fun run with over 50 running enthusiasts. As a special perk, runners also were treated to a test drive of Newton running shoes for their entire run. The Newton technical representative, Justin, was on hand for expert advice and fittings of the Newton running shoes. Putting even more “fun” in the run, Justin spontaneously changed into a Skirt Sports skirt for his mileage, proving that absolutely anyone can be comfortable and stylish running in Skirt Sports attire.
Following the run, Nicole spoke to a full house of her experiences, from growing up in Downers Grove and qualifying for the 1988 Olympic Trials to winning the 2004 Ironman Wisconsin and launching Skirt Sports the same year. With some runners as young as 8 years old and others as old as, well, let’s just say, the “New Twenty”, it was motivational on so many levels. Nicole is married to two-time Ironman World Champion, Tim DeBoom, so keep watch for Baby DeBoom to break on the scene in the future.
You can find Nicole's line of comfortable and stylish athletic wear, Newtons, and all of your running needs at The Runner's Soul with locations in La Grange and Elmhurst. Jayne Aspan, The Runner’s Soul owner, notes all levels of runners are welcome to join the weekly fun runs every Monday at 6:30pm.
