Armed Man Caught In Oak Brook High-Speed Chase: Cops

The man was driving a car stolen from an Indiana dealership, authorities said.

OAK BROOK, IL – An armed man in a stolen car last week led Oak Brook police on a chase that exceeded 120 mph, authorities said.

Aiden Coburn-Dishler, 20, of Lamont, Louisiana, was ordered jailed until his trial, according to a news release from the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office.

About 1:30 a.m. Friday, an Oak Brook officer tried to stop Coburn-Dishler, who was driving a 2017 Cadillac CTS on Midwest Road, because he had no license plates or registration, police said.

Coburn-Dishler ran a red light at Midwest Road and 22nd Street and then entered Interstate 88 eastbound, reaching speeds of 123 mph, prosecutors said.

The pursuit continued onto Interstate 290, near Mannheim Road, where another officer set up a spike strip to disable the suspect's car, police said.

Coburn-Dishler pulled over to the shoulder of Interstate 290 at Mannheim and ran away across multiple lanes, prosecutors said. He was caught shortly after.

Police said they searched Coburn-Dishler's backpack and found a loaded Glock 17 Gen 4 handgun with a mounted laser scope and an extended magazine.

They also said the Cadillac was reported stolen from a dealership in Bloomington, Indiana.

Coburn-Dishler was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aiding or abetting the possession or sale of a stolen vehicle or parts, and aggravated fleeing and eluding a police officer.

"This is a textbook example of effective proactive policing," Oak Brook Police Chief Brian Strockis said in a statement. "Our officers recognized a vehicle they believed to be stolen and formulated a tactical plan to get the offender in custody. Criminals continue to have the false belief that they can flee from the police without consequence, but they often find out that's not the case in Oak Brook and DuPage County."
