Back In A Jiffy? Think Again, Elmhurst Residents
A car left running was stolen from in front of a store, police said. In another case, a purse was taken from an unlocked car.
ELMHURST, IL – Do you ever just leave your car running and unlocked while you go into a convenience store? You’ll be back in a jiffy after all.
Here's something to think about: Cars can be stolen in a jiffy as well.
According to Elmhurst police, shortly after midnight Monday, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was left unattended, unlocked and running with the keys in the ignition, was stolen at 7-Eleven, 155 E. First St. Fortunately, the car was later found unoccupied in another town, which the police did not identify. An investigation continues.

In another case, a purse was stolen from an unlocked car about 8 a.m. Friday at the Elmhurst Animal Care Center, 850 S. Riverside Drive, police said. The suspect later attempted to use credit cards in the purse at Target in Villa Park, according to a report.
