Battery, Ex-Worker's Threat: Elmhurst Cops
Officers responded to domestic violence in a local neighborhood, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving domestic battery, a threat from a fired employee, a burglary to a vehicle, panhandling, retail theft, DUIs and a bicycle crash. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Domestic battery
- A person made physical contact with a woman about 3 a.m. Sunday at a house in the 300 block of East Vallette Street. The suspect disrupted the woman's attempt to call 911, then later left the house. Charges are pending for domestic battery, interference with reporting of domestic violence and damage to property over $500.
Threat from ex-worker

- An employee who was fired several months ago phoned in a threat Thursday to the business at 155 W. Industrial Drive. An investigation is pending.
Burglary to vehicle
- Devell D. Robinson, 30, of Chicago, was arrested about 5 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Melrose Avenue on charges of burglary to a motor vehicle without damage and criminal trespass to a motor vehicle. Police said Robinson stole items from a car. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

- Larry Crow, 53, of Rushville, was arrested about 9 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of East Butterfield Road on two warrants. Police said they came into contact with Crow after receiving a complaint about panhandling at Jewel, 944 S. York St. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Retail theft
- Two women and a man stole e-cigarettes about 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Elmhurst Food and Liquor, 416 N. York St. The first woman was described as 20 to 25 years old, having a heavy build and long gray hair, and wearing an orange shirt, black sweatpants, and a facial tattoo. The second woman was said to be 30 to 35 years old, having a heavy build and wearing a pink T-shirt. The man was described as black, 30 to 36 years old, short, thin, having black hair, and wearing a black jacket, black pants and a winter beanie.
- A woman stole merchandise shortly after noon Thursday at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St. The woman was described as black, 30 to 35 years old, 5-foot-7, 160 pounds, and wearing an off-white sweatshirt with red writing on the front, black pants and white crocks.
DUIs
- Gilberto Guzman, 54, of Elmhurst, was arrested about 10 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of North York Street on charges of DUI and possession of a concealed firearm while under the influence of alcohol. He was released on bond.
- Jake Sherwood, 23, of Winfield, was arrested shortly before midnight Saturday at North Avenue and Interstate 290 on charges of DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver and failure to signal when required. He was released on bond.
- A driver was believed to have caused a hit-and-run crash about 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of West North Avenue. The driver was found shortly after. Charges are pending for aggravated battery, criminal damage, leaving the scene of an accident, DUI and illegal transportation of alcohol.
Bicycle crash
- A person said he lost control of his bicycle, causing him to fall and strike his head on the street. It occurred about 4 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of North Van Auken Street. The person was treated by medics at the site of the accident and then released.
Stolen truck
- About 6:30 p.m. Friday, officers stopped the driver of a Ford F150 pickup that was reported stolen in Chicago. It was determined the driver was the registered owner and had since recovered the truck. Elmhurst police notified Chicago police.
Fugitive drivers
- An officer tried to stop the driver of a Ford Edge about 7 p.m. Friday at Ridgeland and North avenues for an expired registration. The driver then sped away, last seen heading east on North.
- An officer tried to stop the driver of a GMC Acadia about 9 p.m. Saturday at Lake and York streets for an expired dealer plate. The driver sped away, last seen heading west on Lake.
- An officer tried to stop the driver of an Audi S4 about 10:30 p.m. Saturday at York and Wrightwood for tinted windows and no license plate. The driver sped away, last seen heading east on Interstate 290 to northbound Interstate I-294.
