Benedictine University freshmen Lauren Mallo (far left) and Kasie Dembowski, both of Villa Park, received the “Saved by the Safety Belt” award on Wednesday, March 26 on behalf of the Lisle and Benedictine University police for wearing their vehicle safety belts during a recent automobile accident on College Avenue south of Maple Avenue in Lisle.
Saved by the Safety Belt is a statewide program in conjunction with local law enforcement agencies, the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to increase awareness of the lifesaving value of safety belts through public recognition of individuals who have survived traffic crashes because they were properly restrained.
