Bethel United Church of Christ Goes Virtual

Elmhurst’s Bethel United Church of Christ is proud to present “A Tribute to George Gershwin,” a live stream event on Sunday, October 25th at 4:00 p.m. as part of the church’s Music at Bethel Concert Series. The concert will showcase some of Gershwin’s best-loved compositions.

Performers include soprano Felicia Filip Burkovskiy, singing “Summertime,” from Porgy and Bess, a Jascha Heifetz arrangement of selections from Porgy and Bess, Yuriy Geyer, violin, and Rhapsody in Blue, a solo piano arrangement performed by Jeffrey Panko, Artistic Director of the series.

“The enduring spirit of New York and the American people have been captured beautifully in the music of George Gershwin. For me, during these uncharted times of tension and pandemic, his music is a poignant reminder to all of us of our inherit vitality and joy,” said Panko.

This will be the Music at Bethel’s first venture into live streaming a musical event, although the church has been streaming Sunday services on its YouTube channel since March.
