Biker In Elmhurst Points Gun At Driver: Police

Police released a description of the suspect, who fled after the incident, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a gun-wielding motorcyclist, a disturbance, a shattered window, retail theft and fugitive drivers. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Gun wielded

  • A motorcyclist tried to remove a license plate from a car about 9:30 p.m. Saturday in Bensenville. At Route 83 and North Avenue in Elmhurst, the biker pointed a gun at the victim and then fled south on Route 83. The suspect was described as a white man, 25 to 30 years old, having long dark hair in a bun, and wearing a red baseball cap, black face mask, gray T-shirt with unknown lettering and tan cargo pants.

  • A resident in the 200 block of South Villa Avenue told police Friday that someone else in his house was acting erratically and breaking items. No injuries were reported, and the suspect left without any problems.

Guns relinquished

  • A resident in the 200 block of East Crestview Avenue told police Saturday that she wanted to give up several guns that belonged to her late uncle. The guns were placed into evidence for destruction.

  • Someone shattered a passenger window of a car and left the passenger door open between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. Thursday in the 300 block of North Maple Avenue. Nothing appears to have been stolen. The damage was estimated at $300.

Fraud

  • A resident in the 400 block of East Schiller Street told police Tuesday that she received a fraudulent call from a person claiming to work for the Citibank fraud department. The suspect asked the resident to provide him with her credit card information, which she provided. The suspect then charged $4,499 to the resident's account. The victim contacted Citibank and closed her account.

Retail theft

  • A person stole a bag of liquor bottles about 9 p.m. Friday at Jewel, 944 S. York St. An investigation is pending.
  • A man stole four cases of beer about 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Walgreens, 160 N. Robert Palmer Drive. An investigation is pending. The man was described as white, 30 years old, possibly having a short mohawk haircut, carrying an Under Armour backpack, and wearing a red shirt, khaki pants and white gym shoes.

Fugitive drivers

  • An officer tried to stop a motorcyclist for disregarding traffic lights shortly before midnight Saturday near York and Schiller streets. The motorcyclist failed to stop and was last seen speeding north on York Street.
  • About 3:30 a.m. Sunday, an officer tried to stop the driver of a silver Chevrolet Aveo that was reported stolen in Arlington Heights. The driver did not stop and was last seen heading west on Interstate 290 from Route 83.
