Car Broken Into In Elmhurst Neighborhood: Police

In another case, a rock was thrown through a home's front window, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving burglary, vandalism, theft, retail theft and a fall. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Vehicle burglary

  • Someone broke the rear window of a car and stole several tools between 10 p.m. Thursday and 10:30 a.m. Friday in the 200 block of East Park Avenue. An investigation is pending.

  • Someone threw a large rock through a front window of a house about 11 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of North Evergreen Avenue. An investigation is pending.

Theft

  • CE Rentals, 441 W. Lake St., told police Friday a suspect rented a skid loader on July 24, but had not returned the equipment. The loader was at a company in Maywood, and CE Rentals took possession of it. Several attempts to contact the suspect were unsuccessful.

Fall

  • A woman tripped while trying to step up from the street to the sidewalk about 1 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of North York Street. She fell, injuring her right arm. She was taken to Elmhurst University.

Retail theft

  • A man stole a bottle of whiskey about 8 p.m. Sunday at Elmhurst Food and Liquor, 416 N. York St. An investigation is pending.
