Car Theft, Dog Bite: Elmhurst Cops

A car was stolen from a local dealership, police said. The suspect's description was given.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a car theft, a dog bite, domestic battery, check fraud, locker burglaries, stolen campaign signs, an egging and a trip-and-fall incident. Here is the information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Car theft

  • A silver Chevrolet Impala was stolen about 9:30 p.m. Thursday from the parking lot at My Choice Motors, 530 W. Grand Ave. Footage showed a man driving the car away. The man was described as wearing a hood, a dark jacket with a white patch or logo on the left sleeve, white lettering on the left chest, blue jeans and boots. No other description information was provided. An investigation is pending.

  • A man told police he was walking his dog about 11 a.m. Saturday in the 500 block of West Crockett when another dog ran out of an open door and bit his dog. The owner of the offending dog, a 31-year-old woman in the 500 block of West Crockett, was cited on a charge of having a dog at large.

Domestic battery

  • A person in the 200 block of North Clinton Avenue told police he was struck during an argument about 8:30 a.m. Sunday. The person had no visible injuries and declined to sign a complaint.

  • Nitti Development, 132 N. York St., told police that it mailed out two checks Feb. 16, but they were never received. Someone altered and cashed one of the checks.

Converter theft

  • A catalytic converter was stolen from a company vehicle between Feb. 8 and March 1 at Terminix, 655 W. Grand Ave. An investigation is pending.

Locker burglaries

  • Seven storage lockers were burglarized between Feb. 28 and March 1 at Extra Space Storage, 160 W. Industrial Drive. Several items were stolen. An investigation is pending.

Bullet hole

  • A resident in the 600 block of North Emroy Avenue told police Friday that she found a bullet hole in her garage door. A bullet was recovered. It appears to have been fired from a long distance away. It was believed to have happened between Wednesday and Friday.

Campaign signs stolen

  • A resident in the 100 block of West Vallette Street reported that several political signs were stolen from her yard. The report did not indicate which candidates the signs were for. An investigation is pending. The election is April 4.

Egging

  • A house in the 100 block of South Kenmore Avenue was egged about 10 p.m. Friday.

Battery

  • During a check on a resident's well-being, the victim reported she was battered by an employee about 6 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of West Butterfield Road.

Trip-and-fall

  • A woman told police she tripped and fell on the sidewalk about 2 p.m. Saturday near Parkside Avenue and Vallette Street. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Threatening

  • Staff at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road, reported that a suspect was verbally aggressive and threatening to employees. The suspect was served with a no-trespass notice.

Drunk woman

  • An Uber driver was called to pick up a woman about 2 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of North Evergreen. The woman was heavily intoxicated. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Violation of agreement

  • A resident in the 100 block of Kenilworth Avenue told police Sunday that another person was in violation of a court-ordered visitation agreement. An investigation is pending.

Retail theft

  • A person stole several items about 11 a.m. Sunday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. The person left the store and was not caught.
  • Two people bought merchandise with forged currency about 2 p.m. Sunday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. They then left the store with more merchandise that they had not purchased. An investigation is pending.
