Cars Stolen In Elmhurst Neighborhoods: Cops

Break-ins of cars were also reported in several places, police said. Another car was damaged.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst police received reports of car thefts and burglaries in the last few days. Here is information from the reports:

Stolen cars

  • A car was stolen overnight Thursday in the 300 block of North Maple Avenue. It was unlocked, with the keys possibly inside. Chicago police later found the car. An investigation is pending.
  • Lincolnwood police requested Elmhurst police contact the registered owner of a silver Subaru in the 400 block of South Hill Avenue. An officer met with the owner about 4:30 a.m. Saturday. The owner then discovered his car was stolen from his driveway sometime overnight. An investigation is pending.

  • Someone entered an unlocked car while it was parked in the street overnight Thursday in the 200 block of North Larch Avenue. Nothing of value was stolen.
  • An unlocked car in the 600 block of South Swain Avenue was burglarized about 3 a.m. Saturday. Nothing appeared to be stolen.
  • Video surveillance showed a person pulling on the door handle of a car about 5 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of North Addison Avenue. Officers checked the area and found several cars burglarized.
  • Sunglasses were stolen from an unlocked car between 3 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Sunday in an underground garage in the 100 block of South York Street.

Damage

  • Someone entered an unlocked car and damaged the interior about 9 a.m. Sunday in the 400 block of North Larch Avenue. An investigation is pending.
