Cash Stolen In Elmhurst Restaurant Burglary: Cops
In another case, a gun was unexpectedly delivered to a local business, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a restaurant burglary, a gun delivery, retail theft, theft at a business, a custody dispute and financial exploitation. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Restaurant burglary
- Someone broke a window and then stole money from the cash register between 3 p.m. Tuesday and 6:30 a.m. Wednesday at Prairie Café, 109 W. Vallette St. An investigation is pending.

- McMaster-Carr, an industrial equipment supplier at 600 N. County Line Road, reported Monday that FedEx had delivered a gun to the business. It was later discovered that shipping labels had been accidentally switched. Police said they would place the gun into evidence until FedEx picked it up.
Retail theft
- A man stole merchandise about 12:30 p.m. Monday at Sal's Beverage World, 695 W. St. Charles Road. The theft was reported about three hours later.

- An employee at New Home Star, 145 W. Second St., used company credit cards for personal expenses. The theft was reported Monday. An investigation is pending.
Custody dispute
- A woman in the 400 block of Huntington Lane told police Monday that her ex-husband failed to return their two daughters under the terms of their custody agreement. The children were brought home later. The woman said she had an open case with the Department of Children and Family Services about her concerns with her ex-husband.
Exploitation
- A resident of The Roosevelt at Salt Creek retirement complex, 400 W. Butterfield Road, was determined Tuesday to have been financially exploited for nearly four months. An investigation is pending.
