Chamber Music at Bethel Presents The “Trout” Quintet
Bethel United Church of Christ streams Schubert concert

Elmhurst’s Bethel United Church of Christ is proud to present the music of Franz Schubert in a live stream event on Sunday, March 14th at 4:00 p.m. as part of the church’s Music at Bethel Concert Series. The concert will showcase Schubert’s Piano Quintet in A major, D. 667, “The Trout.”
Performers include Jennifer Leckie, violin; Terri Van Valkinburgh, viola; Timothy Archbold, cello; Andy Anderson, double bass and Jeffrey Panko, piano.
Uncommon in its instrumentation, “The Trout” as it is commonly known, is scored for piano, violin, viola, cello and double bass. The piece came by its unique nickname due to the fourth movement being a set of variations on Schubert’s earlier Lied Die Forelle, D550, (1817).

Artistic Director Jeffrey Panko created this musical ensemble of stellar musicians just for this performance of a chamber music favorite.
“The first piece I always choose to introduce friends to classical chamber music is Schubert’s ‘Trout’ Quintet. Its joyful spirit and accessible nature—coupled with exciting displays of virtuosity from all instruments—showcase Schubert’s brilliance in a manner listeners love,” said Panko.
