Chest-Bumping In Elmhurst Domestic Battery: Cops
In another case, local teens were found sitting on railroad tracks, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving domestic battery, trespassing, attempted burglary, a domestic disturbance, eggings, and a fugitive driver. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Domestic battery
- A 58-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 800 block of North Addison Avenue on a charge of domestic battery. Police said the man chest-bumped a woman, causing her to fall. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Trespassing

- An 18-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, both of Elmhurst, were cited on charges of trespassing on railroad property about 9 a.m. Friday near York High School, 355 W. St. Charles Road. Police said they saw three people sitting in the middle of the tracks. When an officer approached the trio, they fled. The two who were caught were released to a parent.
Solicitation of contributions
- A 40-year-old Chicago woman was cited about 8 p.m. Saturday at Route 83 and North Avenue on a charge of solicitation of contributions. Police said she was found to be selling candy without a permit. Another Chicago woman was cited earlier this month for the same activity.

- A 36-year-old man who lives in the 10 block of Willow Tree Court was arrested about 4 a.m. Sunday at Butterfield Road and Commonwealth Avenue on a charge of violating the terms of his release for domestic battery charges. Police said he returned to the home of the alleged victim. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Attempted burglary
- A 30-year-old Aurora man was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Sunday at City Hall, 209 N. York St., on charges of attempted burglary of a motor vehicle, retail theft, and resisting and obstructing a police officer. Police said the man was carrying a backpack and looking into cars. He was arrested after a short pursuit and found to have committed retail theft earlier. He was released.
Trip and fall
- Officers and medics responded about 8:30 p.m. Thursday after a man tripped and fell at Berens Park, 493 N. Oaklawn Ave. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
Domestic disturbance
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 11 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of South Spring Road. A man said another person battered him during an argument. Charges are pending.
Fugitive driver
- An officer tried to stop a speeding motorcyclist about 2 p.m. Saturday at 800 Industrial Drive, but the motorcyclist sped away, last seen near York Street and Interstate 290.
Eggings
- A resident in the 400 block of North Ridgeland Avenue told police Sunday that her house was egged two times. Security footage showed two males getting out of a dark sedan and throwing four eggs at the house. They were last seen heading north on Ridgeland.
Burglary
- CE Rentals, 441 W. Lake St., was burglarized about 5 a.m. Sunday. A commercial burglary alarm alerted authorities. Officers found a broken glass door. The owner arrived and provided security footage. The suspects did not enter the building. They drove a car that was stolen in Chicago. An investigation is pending.
DUI
- A 27-year-old Addison man was arrested about 1 a.m. Friday at North and Myrtle avenues on charges of DUI, possession of alcohol and speeding. He was taken to the police station and released.
- A 44-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 100 block of South Elm Tree Lane was arrested about 2 a.m. Friday at York Street and Crescent Avenue on charges of DUI, speeding, improper lane usage and driving an uninsured car. He was taken to the police station and released.
- A 20-year-old Bensenville man was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Friday at York Street and Cayuga Avenue on charges of DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was taken to the police station and released.
