Chicago Bears' Pat Mccaskey To Discuss Sports And Faith On Nov. 6

His talk will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel. Admission is free and the public is invited.

Pat McCaskey is a Chicago Bears Board member, the Bears’ senior director of special projects and the longtime chronicler of the team and his family’s historic connections to it.

In a special presentation sponsored by the Elmhurst College Fellowship of Christian Athletes, McCaskey will discuss Sports and Faith on Thursday, November 6, at Elmhurst College. His talk will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel (190 Prospect Ave., Elmhurst, www.elmhurst.edu/campusmap). Admission is free and the public is invited.

Patrick McCaskey has been writing about sports for decades—producing more than 30 booklets as a family scribe for the Bears. He is the author of three books, Bear with Me: A Family History of George Halas and the Chicago Bears, Sports and Faith: Stories of the Devoted and the Devout, and Pillars of the NFL: Coaches Who Have Won Three or More Championships.

As a young athlete, McCaskey played football and ran track at Notre Dame College Prep in Niles, Illinois. He also ran cross-country and track at Cheshire Academy in Connecticut. Now he competes on the masters’ track circuit.

McCaskey served as a contributing editor to the literary magazines at Loyola University Chicago and Indiana University, from which he graduated as an English major. He has a master’s degree in the interdisciplinary studies of business, writing, and performing from DePaul University.

He is chairman of Sports Faith International, which recognizes people who are successful in sports while leading exemplary lives.

The mission of the Elmhurst College Fellowship of Christian Athletes is “to welcome those who wish to explore and grow their faith in and through Jesus Christ.” The group meets weekly to discuss topics and issues relevant to their lives as Christians, and looks to deepen their faith in a college setting.
