Chronic Nuisance, Stolen Car: Elmhurst Cops

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a chronic nuisance warning, a stolen car, an order of protection, vandalism, a trip and fall, and an order of protection. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Chronic nuisance

  • A "chronic nuisance" warning was issued Monday to a property owner in the 100 block of Fellows Court.

Stolen car

  • A new Dodge Durango GT was stolen overnight Saturday at Larry Roesch Chrysler, 200 W. Grand Ave. Shattered glass was found where the car was parked.

Fraud

  • American Eagle Jewelry, 538 W. North Ave., told police Monday that it received a money order from a customer to buy silver coins May 10. The business later noticed the check was altered, so it did not send the coins. The report was filed Monday.

Order of protection

  • A woman told police Monday she had an unserved order of protection against her ex-boyfriend that was filed with the Cook County Sheriff's Office. The victim received numerous threatening messages on her phone from the suspect. An investigation is pending.

Trip and fall

  • A woman tripped and fell on the sidewalk about 10 a.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of East Schiller Street. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Well-being check

  • Officers checked the well-being of an elderly man who was walking in a lane of traffic near Roosevelt Road and York Street about 10 a.m. Tuesday. The man was reunited with his son at Elmhurst Hospital.

Suspicious

  • An employee of Wax the City, 193 N. York St., told police Tuesday that a stranger called the business and asked questions that made her feel uncomfortable. The employee said the phone number was known to the company as the source of harassing calls.

Vandalism

  • Two men broke a window of a car about 9 p.m. Tuesday near Amigas Restaurant II, 671 W. North Ave. An investigation is pending. The suspects were described as Hispanic men, 18 to 25 years old and about 5-foot-7. One was wearing a red Chicago Bulls hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and gym shoes. The other one was carrying a hammer and wearing a green hooded sweatshirt (possibly a Nike brand), jeans and gym shoes.

Battery

  • A suspect pushed a man and choked him about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road. An investigation is pending

Fugitive drivers

  • About 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, an officer saw a gray Chevrolet 300 that was reported stolen in Chicago. The driver sped away, last seen headed east on Interstate 290 from St. Charles Road.
  • About 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, an officer saw a gray Kia Forte that was reported stolen in Oak Brook. The driver said the car was being leased and that she was behind on payments. The owner did not want to pursue criminal charges, and the driver was released. Oak Brook police took custody of the car.

Theft

  • Someone stole backpacks between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday from the common area at a company at 155 W. Industrial Drive.
