Cocaine Arrests, Car Theft: Elmhurst Cops
A man and a woman were arrested on cocaine possession charges in separate incidents, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving drug possession, car theft, unauthorized withdrawals, fraud, a shirtless man, a business dispute and harassment. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Drug possession
- Fernando Zamudio, 31, of Elgin, was arrested about 4 a.m. Monday in the 500 block of South York on charges of DUI, unlawful possession of a controlled substance (suspected cocaine), illegal transportation of alcohol and improper lane usage. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- Monica Rosales, 47, of Bensenville, was arrested about 6 p.m. Monday near Interstate 290 and York on charges of possession of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver (cocaine), driving an uninsured motor vehicle and driving while using a phone. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

- A woman told police her 2011 white Toyota Sienna was stolen about 8 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot at Sydney Nail Spa, 211 E. Butterfield Road. It had been left unattended and running. Police found the vehicle, but the driver sped away north on Interstate 355. The vehicle was occupied by two or three men.
Unauthorized withdrawals
- The pastor for Bethel Assembly of God, 503 W. North Ave., found two unauthorized pending withdrawals from the church's bank accounts. The bank found a personal check account in New Jersey using the pastor's personal information and linking to the church's account.

- A resident in the 700 block of South Stuart Court told police Monday that he was messaging with a woman by the name of Tina about Snow Coin cryptocurrency to purchase with other people. The resident transferred his money in his Bitcoin account to his Snow Coin account. When he attempted to remove the money, he was told he needed to put more money into the account. Over a month, the money was slowly taken out of the account.
- Elmhurst Extended Care Center nursing home, 200 E. Lake St., told police Monday that four fraudulent checks were generated from the business account and made out to suspects. An investigation is pending.
- The owner of McGuin HVAC Inc., 300 N. Maple Ave., told police Monday that her credit card was used by someone to buy two Amazon gift cards. The credit card has been canceled, and the account has been credited.
Chase
- About 9 p.m. Monday, an Elmhurst police officer joined a chase with Bensenville officers, who were pursuing the driver of a car stolen in Fox Lake. The suspect sped away, last seen heading north on Interstate 294.
Burglary
- A storage unit was burglarized between March 27 and April 10 in the 200 block of North Addison Avenue. Paper products were stolen.
Car break-in
- A resident in the 100 block of East Lake Street told police Tuesday that she believed one of her children forgot to close the car door while it was parked outside. After looking in the car, the resident realized her son's baseball equipment was missing. The burglary was believed to have taken place overnight Monday.
Shirtless
- A person was found shirtless with no socks or shoes shortly before midnight Tuesday in the 600 block of West North Avenue. The person was not providing logical information and appeared to require medical help. Medics took the person to Elmhurst Hospital.
Phone theft
- A woman told police Wednesday that her iPhone was stolen in Broadview and that it was pinging in the 100 block of East Butterfield. The phone was determined to be in the postal mailbox outside of Dunkin' Donuts. The post office was contacted, and the phone was returned to the woman.
Harassment
- A resident on Elm Creek Drive told police Wednesday that a suspect had been harassing her through text messages and Instagram. The resident does not want the suspect to contact her in any way. The suspect was asked to have no further contact with the woman. He said he understood.
Business dispute
- A resident in the 100 block of Mayo Court told police Wednesday that he met a person through family members and they went into business in February 2020. The suspect stopped making payments on their business loan a year later. The victim cannot is unable to contact the suspect.
Shoplifting
- A male stole a case of White Claw about 7 p.m. Wednesday at 7-Eleven, 525 S. Spring Road. The suspect was described as white, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, 150 to 170 pounds, and wearing a white hoodie with a black logo on the left breast, gray sweatpants, black baseball-style hat and white shoes.
Driving violations
- Joseph Messino, 50, of Lowell, Indiana, was cited about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Butterfield and Parkside on charges of leaving the scene of an accident and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was released on bond.
- Khalid Bryant, 24, of Berwyn, was arrested about 10 p.m. Tuesday at Butterfield and Colfax on a Berwyn Police Department warrant and charges of tinted windows, driving on a suspended registration and driving an uninsured motor vehicle. She was released on bond.
- Julio A. Teneval, 49, of Villa Park, was cited about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at York and Industrial on charges of driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and disobeying a traffic control device. He was released on bond.
- Jose Manuel Lara Guerrero, 28, of Chicago, was cited about 5 p.m. Wednesday at North and Route 83 on charges of having no valid driver's license, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving on the shoulder of the road and driving on unsafe tires. He was released on bond.
