College Argument, Cursing At Restaurant: Elmhurst Cops
Elmhurst University calls for extra patrols because of a disagreement between a boss and an employee, report says.
ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving an argument at Elmhurst University, a man cursing at a family, a fire at an apartment complex, stolen signs and a custody dispute. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Argument at university
- Elmhurst University security requested extra patrols after an employee was asked to leave because of a disagreement with a supervisor Thursday. The incident was labeled a threat investigation.

- A man cursed at a woman and her children about 3:30 p.m. Saturday at McDonald’s, 190 E. Butterfield Road. The suspect left before police arrived.
Fire at apartments
- The fire department responded to a report of smoke about 2 a.m. Sunday at Elm Creek Apartments, 1 Elm Creek Drive. An officer found a small portion of a wooden wall with fire damage and a cigarette butt nearby. Firefighters put out the fire without any problems. Management was notified.
Signs stolen

- Several signs were stolen from windows in two instances between Sept. 18 and Sept. 23 at Dulles Cleaners, 128 N. Addison. A sign on the business late last year upset many residents.
Custody dispute
- Police received a complaint Sept. 23 in the 300 block of Huntington Lane that a man’s ex-wife refused to drop off their two children at the agreed-upon time. An officer contacted the ex-wife. She said the children were quarantined because of coronavirus exposure and that she would drop them off after the school day was over.
Credit card fraud
- A woman in the 400 block of North West Avenue told police that someone opened a credit card account in her name Sept. 15. The woman was contacted by Discover Bank, which was unable to cancel the application. The woman believes her information was compromised from a T-Mobile security breach.
Climbing fence
- A youth was seen climbing over a wooden fence to fish in a retention pond about 6 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of Knighton Place. The reporting resident was concerned for the youth’s safety. An officer spoke with the youth’s father, who stated he would tell his son not to climb the fence anymore.
Intoxicated youth at York
- An employee at York High School, 355 W. St. Charles Road, informed police that a youth appeared to be under the influence of alcohol about 6:30 p.m. Friday. An officer detected a strong odor of alcohol on the youth. Another youth was found to be under the influence of alcohol about 9 p.m. Friday at the school. The youth admitted to drinking. Both were released to their parents.
Damaged house
- A resident in the 600 block of South Hawthorne Avenue told police that a group of youths damaged a glass panel on the exterior door of her house at 8:30 a.m. Friday.
Pumping without paying
- A man dispensed gasoline and did not pay for it about 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Thorntons, 476 N. York St.
House egged
- Several people threw eggs at a house about 11 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of West Belden Avenue. Villa Park officers found the suspects in a car. The youths admitted to being involved. They were cited on charges of befouling property and released to their parents.
Fireworks charges
- A group of youths were setting off fireworks about 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Second and Addison. An officer found a youth in possession of fireworks. He was cited on a charge of possession of fireworks. He was released.
