Conroy Sponsored Anti-Bullying Initiative Signed into Law

VILLA PARK, Ill. – Legislation sponsored by state Rep. Deb Conroy, D-Villa Park, that aims to reduce bullying in Illinois’ schools was signed into law by the Governor, recently.

“Schools need to be safe learning environments for all students. Having been a victim of bullying in high school I understand the anxiety and fear that it can cause,” Conroy said. “This bill will help to combat bullying moving forward.”

House Bill 5707 requires that public schools create an anti-bullying policy that includes a definition of bullying, a procedure of the reporting of bullying, parental notification, the investigation of reports of bullying and actions that may be taken to address bullying.
