Conroy to Host State Spelling Bee for Local Seniors

VILLA PARK, Ill. – State Rep. Deb Conroy is partnering with the Association of Illinois Senior Citizens and the Illinois Department on Aging to offer area seniors the opportunity to compete in the Illinois State Senior Spelling Bee. The competition will be held on Thursday, April 17th at 1:30 p.m. at the Villa Park Community Recreation Center located at 320 E Wildwood Ave. in Villa Park.

“I encourage seniors in the district to sign up and come out for the competition,” Conroy said. “I am looking forward to this event.”

The Illinois State Spelling Bee is a statewide completion that provides Illinois adults age 50 and older to showcase their spelling abilities. Winners of the local competitions will advance to regional semi-finals, to compete for a chance to qualify for the State Finals.

“I have visited with many seniors in the district at both local senior centers and at their homes when I go door-to-door,” Conroy said. “I am glad to be able to help facilitate this statewide event for our senior residents.”

Pre-registration forms will be available at Rep. Conroy’s constituent service office located at 28 S. Villa Ave. in Villa Park as well as the Villa Park Community Recreation Center.
