In another case, a store clerk hit the panic alarm, saying a man threatened him, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a credit card skimming device, a panic alarm, fraud, theft and drunkenness. Here is information from the latest police reports:

Skimming

  • Ace Hardware, 145 E. First St., informed police Friday that a credit card skimming device was placed on one of the store’s card machines. An investigation is pending.

  • Officers responded to a panic alarm from an employee at Shell gas station, 218 E. Butterfield Road. The worker said a man made threats toward him, but the suspect contended the employee was the one who threatened him. No one was charged because of the conflicting statements.

Fraud

  • A resident in the 200 block of South Poplar Avenue told police Friday that someone used her American Express card to buy a motorcycle in China.

Theft

  • Someone stole a man’s iPhone 15 while he left it unattended about 4:30 p.m. Friday at the basketball courts at LA Fitness, 620 N. York St. An investigation is pending.
  • A person stole two electric bicycles about 7:30 p.m. Friday at Kohl’s, 303 S. Route 83. The theft was reported the next day. An investigation is pending.

Drunkenness

  • Police were called to check on a person's well-being about 10:30 p.m. Friday at Jewel, 944 S. York St. The person, who was drunk, was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
