D-205 Critic Makes Leader's 'Infamous List'
Resident says she does not recall interacting with superintendent on Twitter.
ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst resident Katie Marsico has made the local school superintendent's list of people he blocks from his government Twitter page. But she said she does not know why.
Marsico is not just any resident She created the Parents' Advocacy Group of Elmhurst website, which she said now has more than 900 members. And she has been a critic of Elmhurst School District 205's administration, headed by Superintendent Dave Moyer.
Last week, Elmhurst Patch obtained through a public records request the list of 17 Twitter accounts that Moyer had blocked from his official page.

Marsico brought up the issue in her written public comments that she submitted to the school board for Tuesday night's meeting.
Late last month, Moyer's Twitter use attracted public attention when he tangled with Elmhurst teacher Jennifer Leban, an Illinois Teacher of the Year finalist, over a mask issue in a series of tweets. He suggested she take her mask off, even though the state required she wear it. Moyer deleted his tweets.

In her comments, Marsico said she was grateful for board members who are willing to speak with her.
"But I fail to understand what any of you imagine is inspired by leadership exemplified by Twitter debates about mask protocol or blocking both staff and parents from a 205 social media account (though I do not recollect ever having Tweeted with the superintendent a day in my life)," Marsico said. "I was amused at initially landing on the infamous list that has since been publicized in The Patch, but the greater implications of the act behind it are troubling."
Moyer and the school board have been publicly silent on the superintendent's Twitter practices, although several comments were read at the last meeting expressing concern about the issue.
Patch left a message with Moyer on Tuesday asking whether he has any guidelines for decisions to block others on Twitter from his government page. Patch has emailed this question to Moyer before, but got no response.
