D-205 Kids Eating Lunch On Floor?

School board member says he has heard about this happening.

ELMHURST, IL — Like other districts, Elmhurst School District 205 has been forced to become creative in finding places for students to eat lunch while socially distanced.

During Tuesday's school board meeting, member Jim Collins said he has heard about a new place where students are eating lunch, one he didn't like.

"I have elementary parents telling me that their kids are being asked to eat their lunch on the floor, which, in my mind, poses probably a greater health risk than COVID does to an elementary student," Collins said. "What can we do about that? We're spending millions of dollars to get kids out of classes in basements. They shouldn't have to eat lunch on the floor."
