Dispute With Damage, Theft: Elmhurst Cops

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a dispute, theft of services, a car burglary, retail theft, check fraud and a fallen tree. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Dispute and damage

  • A woman got into a dispute with another driver about noon Monday in the parking lot at CVS Pharmacy, 110 W. North Ave. She later discovered damage to her rear passenger side tire. An investigation is pending. The other driver was described as a white man, Eastern European (possibly Polish), in his early 50s, having blond hair, and wearing a black and red vest.

  • A business at 110 E. Schiller St. told police Tuesday that a customer received service for hair extensions but did not have money to pay. The suspect said she would pay the business, but she could not be reached afterward. An investigation is pending.

Car burglary

  • Someone smashed a car's front passenger side window and stole a purse between 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of West Second Street. An investigation is pending.

  • Two people stole liquor bottles about 2:30 p.m. Monday at CVS Pharmacy, 110 W. North Ave. The first suspect was described as a black woman, about 20, having blond hair, and wearing a black shirt and black shorts. The second person was described as a black man, having possible dreadlocks and wearing a jogging suit with a hoodie over his head.

Check fraud

  • Premier Outdoor Environments, 977 S. Route 83, told police Tuesday that a business check issued to a company had been altered and deposited into an account under another name. An investigation is pending.

Fallen tree

  • A large tree fell about 7 p.m. Tuesday into the intersection of Fullerton Avenue and Michigan Street. A light pole was damaged. Public works was notified.
