Dispute On Elmhurst Street Involves Gun: Police

The dispute spilled over from an earlier altercation in suburban Bellwood, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – A dispute in suburban Bellwood spilled over earlier this week onto St. Charles Road in Elmhurst, police said.

About 1 a.m. Tuesday, police were called about the occupants of a GMC SUV following a sedan west on St. Charles from Interstate 290, according to a police news release.

The caller from the sedan alleged a passenger from the GMC threatened the sedan's occupants while the driver pointed a handgun at them, police said.

Elmhurst police found both cars on Palmer Drive near Schiller Street and conducted a "high-risk" stop of the GMC, the news release said.

Officers arrested two men in the GMC and found a loaded Glock pistol in the car's passenger area, police said. The driver was said to be wearing an empty handgun holster.

Officers said they learned the occupants of both cars were involved in an altercation in Bellwood before driving to Elmhurst.

The GMC driver had a valid firearm owner's identification card, or FOID, and a concealed carry license, police said.

The driver, 31-year-old Martin Green of Glendale Heights, was charged with aggravated assault, and the passenger, a 27-year-old Maywood man, was charged with disorderly conduct, police said.

Both men were released pending an appearance in DuPage County Court.
