Distracted Elmhurst Shopper Victim Of Purse Theft: Cops
In another case, an Elmhurst man was charged after rough-housing caused damage to a business, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a distracted shopper, unruly customers, damage to a store, a dispute, a stolen trailer, domestic battery and a fugitive driver. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Distracted shopper
- A shopper told police that two women distracted her and stole her wallet about 1 p.m. Sunday at Jewel, 944 S. York St. An investigation is pending. One woman was described as heavy, black and wearing a dark sweatshirt with light-colored writing. The other was thin, black and wearing a dark jacket with the hood up and white tennis shoes.

- Two customers were rough-housing when they damaged a window about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Cignot Elmhurst, which is inside 100 South Chop House Bar and Grill at 100 S. York St. A 48-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 700 block of Indiana Street was cited on a charge of injuring property.
Store damage
- About 7:30 a.m. Saturday, a person threw a glass bottle at the front door of 7-Eleven, 155 E. First St. The person was issued a no-trespass notice at the store. An employee said the store didn't want to press charges. The suspect was taken to the hospital.

- Police responded to a domestic disturbance involving a man and a woman about 7 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of North Addison Avenue. Neither person wanted further help. Their statements conflicted.
Stolen trailer
- A 53-foot trailer owned by Chicago-based MP Super Express was stolen about 2:30 a.m. Friday in the 900 block of South Riverside Drive. It was parked in front of a commercial building. An investigation is pending.
Domestic battery
- A man told police that someone pushed him and threatened to harm him about 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of North Larch Avenue. No one was injured. Both people separated for the night. The incident was listed as domestic battery.
Fugitive driver
- An officer saw two Infiniti sedans heading west on Interstate 290 from York Street about 2:30 a.m. Sunday. The officer tried to stop the cars, but they fled west on I-290 from Route 83.
