Domestic Disturbance, Alarming Phone Call: Elmhurst Cops

A man says he was struck and bitten during a domestic disturbance, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving domestic battery, an alarming call, a disturbance, custody disputes, fraud, theft and damage. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Domestic battery

  • A man told police that someone struck and bit him about 6 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of North Michigan Street. The incident was labeled domestic battery. Charges are pending.

  • A woman at Dunkin' Donuts, 506 W. North Ave., told police she received an alarming call about 12:30 p.m. Friday. The caller said her daughter was being held hostage. The woman contacted her daughter, who was safe. The phone call was a scam.

Disturbance

  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of East Park Avenue. Two people were arguing. They agreed to resolve their issues themselves.

  • A man in the 800 block of South Hillside told police Sunday that his ex-wife was in violation of their court-ordered custody agreement when she refused to allow their child to communicate with the man. An investigation is pending.
  • A man in the 100 block of South Kenilworth told police Monday that his ex-wife was in violation of their court-ordered custody agreement. She did not give him custody Friday or Saturday. An investigation is pending.

Fraud

  • The At Home store, 265 S. Route 83, notified police Monday that a man fraudulently returned items that he did not buy at the store to receive store credit. The man bought an item using the gift card and left. It occurred about 5:30 p.m. Saturday. He was described as black, 20 to 30 years old, having a beard and mustache, and wearing a black coat.

Theft

  • A catalytic converter was stolen from a car about noon Wednesday in the 200 block of North Maple Avenue. The theft was reported Monday. An investigation is pending.

Damage

  • The driver's side mirror of a parked car was damaged about 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of North Indiana Street.
