Domestic Battery, Car Theft: Elmhurst Cops

Officers responded to a domestic, with a woman saying her drunk ex-boyfriend struck her, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving battery, a domestic disturbance, possession of stolen cars, DUI, car theft, harassing messages and fraud. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Domestic

  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 5 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of South Prairie Avenue. A woman said her drunk boyfriend struck her. Officers did not see any signs of an injury. No arrests were made.

  • Al Piemonte Buick, 364 W. Grand Ave., told police Monday that someone stole a car while it was being serviced. The theft occurred about 2:30 p.m. Friday. An investigation is pending.

Battery

  • A man told police that he got into an argument shortly before 9 p.m. Monday at Elm Creek Apartments on Elm Creek Drive. The other person shoved him, but left. The victim said he didn't want to sign a complaint against the other person.

Disturbance

  • A customer dispute occurred about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St. The customer harassed employees and other customers before leaving. An investigation is pending.

Possession of stolen cars

  • Kamil Spieczynski, 37, of Algonquin, was arrested about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday on two counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle and a count of possession of burglary tools. Elmhurst and Bensenville police saw several people commit car thefts in Bensenville. Local and state police tried to stop a stolen semi-tractor, with three suspects running away. Spieczynski was caught, police said. The investigation continues. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Drugs

  • A 48-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 2:30 p.m. Monday at York Street and Fullerton Avenue on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana in a car and failure to wear a seat belt. He was released.

Trespassing

  • A 38-year-old Glendale Heights man was arrested about 7 p.m. Monday at North and Berteau avenues on a charge of criminal trespass to a vehicle. Police said the man was driving a yellow Isuzu pickup truck that was stolen in DuPage County. He was released.

DUI

  • A 21-year-old man who lives in the 200 block of North Maison Court was arrested about 1 a.m. Tuesday at Third Street and Geneva Avenue on charges of DUI, improper lane usage, driving an uninsured car, illegal transportation of open alcohol, disobeying a stop sign and possession of a controlled substance. He was released.
  • A 39-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday at Route 83 and Roosevelt Road on charges of DUI, obstructing identification, illegal transportation of open alcohol, driving an uninsured car, failure to signal and improper lane usage. He was released.
  • A 41-year-old Bellwood man was arrested Feb. 14 at North and Melrose avenues on charges of DUI and no headlights. He was released.

Harassing messages

  • A woman in the 100 block of West Butterfield Road told police Monday that she received harassing texts and emails for four days. Police told the suspect to end all communications with the woman.
  • A woman in the 200 block of North Berteau Avenue told police Wednesday that she received numerous calls and a threatening text message from an unknown number. The suspect told police he thought he was contacting a friend and apologized.
  • A woman at Elmhurst University, 190 S. Prospect Ave., told police Tuesday that her ex-boyfriend continued to contact her after repeatedly being told to stop. An officer told the man to end communications with the woman. He was given a no-trespass notice.

Fraud

  • A woman left her purse Feb. 6 at Buffalo Wild Wings. She later retrieved it after staff found it. She then discovered someone made three fraudulent transactions on her Chase debit card. An investigation is pending.

Damage

  • Someone spray-painted black graffiti about 6 p.m. Monday on the southeast corner wall at Skull & Thrones Hair Society, 111 E. First St.

Counterfeit check

  • Someone created a counterfeit business check and deposited it into an unknown account Tuesday. The victim was Premier Outdoor Environments, 977 S. Route 83. An investigation is pending.

Missing car

  • Honda on Grand, 300 W. Grand Ave., told police Wednesday that a loaner car and its key fob had been missing for several weeks. An investigation is pending.
