Domestic Battery, DUIs: Elmhurst Cops
An Elmhurst man was taken to the DuPage County Jail after a domestic disturbance.

ELMHURST, IL – In recent days, Elmhurst police arrested people on charges of domestic battery, DUI, retail theft, forgery and public drinking. Here is information from the reports:
Domestic battery
- Nicholas Romano, 34, of Elmhurst, was arrested about 9:30 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of South Pick Avenue on a charge of domestic battery. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

- Javier Hernandez-Garcia, 44, of Darien, was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Thursday at North and Berteau avenues on charges of DUI, improper lane usage, failure to signal when required, driving an uninsured car and illegal transportation of open alcohol. He was released on bond.
- Evelyn Myemberg Rome, 38, of Clarendon Hills, was arrested about 8 p.m. Saturday at Route 83 and St. Charles Road on charges of DUI, endangering the health and safety of a minor (two counts), improper lane usage and driving an uninsured car. She was released on bond.
Retail theft
- Katie E. Vanderveld, 32, of Wood Dale, was cited about Friday on two counts of retail theft. Police said her offense occurred May 19 at Bazzy Boutique, 106 W. Second St. She was released on bond.
Forgery

- Harrison J. Mendoza Vargas, 31, of Bensenville, was arrested about 7 a.m. Saturday at York and Lake streets on charges of forgery, no valid driver's license, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and improper lane usage. Police said he had a fraudulent Social Security card. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Public drinking
- Six people ranging from 21 to 40 years old were cited about 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Myrtle Avenue on charges of possession of alcohol in public. Four were from Bensenville, one from Elmhurst and another from Chicago. Police said they showed up unannounced and uninvited on a resident's property. The owner has had an ongoing problem with one of the people. All six suspects were holding beer cans. They were released on bond.
