Domestic Battery, Hospital Attack: Elmhurst Cops
Local officers responded to two domestic disturbances in the last few days, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst handled cases involving domestic battery, assault, DUI, retail theft and drugs. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Domestic battery
- A 20-year-old Chicago woman was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Brush Hill Road and York Street on a domestic battery charge. Police said the woman reached inside the car and punched a man. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of South West Avenue. A woman told police she argued with another person when the person grabbed her. The other person left before officers arrived. The incident was listed as domestic battery. An investigation is pending.
Hospital attack

- A person who was taken about 9 a.m. Thursday to Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road, became aggressive and battered hospital employees. Charges are pending.
DUI
- A 21-year-old Westmont man was arrested about 3:30 a.m. Sunday at Route 83 and the Union Pacific railroad tracks on charges of DUI, no valid driver's license and possession of open alcohol by a driver. Police said they found the man asleep behind the wheel of a disabled car. He was taken to the police station and released.
- A 29-year-old Whiting, Indiana, man was arrested about 11 p.m. Friday at Roosevelt Road and York Street on charges of possession of a controlled substance, DUI, possession of open alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving an uninsured car. He was taken to the police station and released.
- A 39-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 10 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of South Route 83 on charges of possession of a controlled substance, DUI, failure to signal when required, speeding, improper lane usage, possession of open alcohol and driving an uninsured car. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Retail theft

- A 37-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 2:30 p.m. Friday at Jewel, 944 S. York St., on charges of retail theft and possession of a controlled substance. Police said the man admitted to stealing alcohol from Jewel. He was released.
- Joseph Earnest, 43, of Northlake, was arrested about 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, on a retail theft charge. He was also wanted on a DuPage County warrant. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- A man and a woman stole two packs of chicken tenders about 3:30 p.m. Friday at Thorntons convenience store, 476 N. York St. An investigation is pending. The man was described as Hispanic, 25 to 40, and wearing a blue Cubs hat, a white Nike hoodie with shoes printed on it, blue sweatpants and white Nike shoes. The woman was described as Hispanic and wearing a gray shirt, a black vest, black slacks and black shoes.
Drugs
- A 44-year-old Carol Stream woman was arrested about 1:30 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of North York Street on two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Police said they responded to a report of a woman asleep behind the wheel. She was released.
