Domestic, Car Break-Ins: Elmhurst Cops

A woman told officers that her boyfriend threw her against the wall, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In recent days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving domestic battery, car break-ins, stolen tires, falling women, suspicious incidents and found bicycles. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Domestic battery

  • A woman told police that her boyfriend threw her against the wall during an argument about 11 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of Fellows Court. An investigation is pending.

  • Two men burglarized a car about noon Thursday near Subway, 1034 S. York St. One of the men was described as black, about 6 feet, and wearing flannel, brown pants and a face mask. The other was described as white, 75 years old, and balding with white hair. An investigation is pending.
  • An unlocked car was burglarized about 3 p.m. Saturday at Elm Lawn Memorial Park cemetery, 401 E. Lake St. Items were stolen. An investigation is pending.

Stolen tires

  • Spare tires were stolen from several company vehicles between June 17 and Aug. 13 at Closet Works, 953 N. Larch Ave. Surveillance footage showed a silver Hyundai Odyssey in the parking lot in between company trucks. An investigation is pending.

  • A resident in the 400 block of North Berteau Avenue told police Friday that her son's friend stole a laptop.

Falling women

  • A woman fell shortly before 8 p.m. Friday on the sidewalk in the 600 block of West Belden Avenue. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
  • A woman was riding her bicycle when she lost control and fell about 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Vallette Street and Meister Avenue. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Suspicious

  • A man was seen pulling on door handles of parked cars about 10:30 a.m. Sunday near Bethel Assembly of God, 503 W. North Ave. He left in a brown Jeep Grand Cherokee heading north on West Avenue. The man was described as white, 40 years old, 180 pounds, 5-foot-7, having black hair, and wearing a white shirt and dark pants.
  • About 5 a.m. Saturday, a stranger pushed two chairs down the steps of a house in the 600 block of South Saylor Avenue. The woman then entered a black SUV and headed south on Saylor.

Found bicycles

  • A bicycle was found about 10 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of South Fairfield Avenue. It was placed into evidence for safekeeping.
  • About 8 p.m. Sunday, an electric Razor brand bike was reported abandoned in the grass in the 400 block of South Poplar. It was entered into evidence for safekeeping.
