Domestic Disturbance, Theft: Elmhurst Cops

Officers responded to a disturbance in a local neighborhood, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a domestic disturbance, theft, trespassing, an abandoned bike, a dog bite, harassment and identity theft. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Domestic disturbance

  • Officers responded to a domestic disturbance about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of East Park Avenue. The parties said they got into an argument. They said no one was injured. One of the people agreed to leave for the night. No complaints were signed.

Theft

  • A person stole a plant about 7 a.m. May 15 from a display outside Jewel, 944 S. York St. The person returned the plant and was given a no-trespass notice. He was told he could not come back.
  • Someone stole the seat and rear wheel from a man's second Ozark Trail mountain bike near Pilot Pete's Coffee & Treats, 128 W. First St. An investigation is pending.

Trespassing

  • Two women tried to buy cigars without proper identification about 10:30 p.m. May 14 at Shell gas station, 654 W. North Ave. The store wanted the suspects served with no-trespass notices. Police did so and told the women they would be arrested if they returned.
  • Two people were found to be trespassing about 5 p.m. May 15 at a vacant building at 200 N. York St. Police cited them for trespassing and gave them no-trespass notices. The suspects' names were not given.

Abandoned bike

  • An employee at Elmhurst Public Library, 125 S. Prospect Ave., told police a bicycle had been abandoned there since April 28. It was a silver Giant Yukon seven-speed bike. It was entered into evidence for safekeeping.

Dog bite

  • A woman was on her morning walk about 7:30 a.m. May 15 at First and Myrtle when a dog bit her on the left calf. DuPage County Animal Services has been informed.

Harassment

  • A woman told police Tuesday that she received numerous unwanted messages from her ex-boyfriend. An officer contacted the ex-boyfriend, and he agreed to stop the communications.

Identity theft

  • A resident in the 200 block of East Cayuga told police Wednesday that he received a letter from Verizon stating he owed money. The resident found that someone opened an account using his information. The resident reported the fraudulent account to Verizon.

Medical assistance

  • A man was lying on the ground about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of South Poplar Avenue. He appeared disoriented and confused. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
