ELMHURST, IL – In recent days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving domestic disturbances, drug possession, damage, theft and lost items. Here is information from the reports:

Domestic disturbances

  • A woman told police Monday that while picking up her children at Emerson Elementary School, 400 N. West Ave., her ex-husband recorded her and made a scene. Both parties left without any other problems.
  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 4 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of South Fair Avenue. The parties were arguing. No arrests were made. A family shelter was notified.

Drug possession

  • Bonnie Shafer, 35, of Elizabeth, Illinois, was arrested about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at Roosevelt and York on an Addison warrant and on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended registration. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Damage

  • A resident in the 500 block of West Crockett Avenue found her mailbox on the ground. The person who struck it returned to the woman's house and apologized. The person had driven home to get paper and a pen to leave a note.

Theft

  • A skateboard left near a pillar outside Jewel, 944 S. York St., was stolen about 7 p.m. Monday.

Lost items

  • A resident in the 600 block of South Bryan told police Tuesday that her Kate Spade wristlet must have fallen out of her vehicle on May 19.
  • A resident at Butterfield Towers, 260 E. Butterfield Road, told police that he lost his money clip, which contained credit cards, a driver's license and cash. The loss happened between May 8 and May 15.
  • A black Mongoose bicycle was left at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller, for over three weeks. It was turned into the police department Monday.

Converter thefts

  • A catalytic converter was stolen from a rental vehicle overnight Monday at SpringHill Suites, 410 W. Lake St.
  • A catalytic converter was stolen from a work van overnight Monday in the industrial park in the 900 block of Oaklawn Avenue.
  • A catalytic converter was stolen from a black van about 2 a.m. Monday at Integra Health Care Equipment, 321 W. Lake St.
  • A catalytic converter was reported stolen Tuesday from a vehicle parked overnight at SpringHill Suites, 410 W. Lake St.

Identity theft

  • A resident in the 100 block of Lexington Avenue told police Monday that someone tried to open bank accounts in her name.

Driving violations

  • Yasmine Horton, 33, of Elgin, was cited shortly after midnight Tuesday in the 600 block of West North on charges of no valid driver's license, driving a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, driving without a rear registration light and driving an uninsured motor vehicle. She was released on bond.
