Domestic, Purse Theft: Elmhurst Cops
An Elmhurst man was arrested of four counts of domestic battery.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving domestic battery, purse theft, fraud and retail theft, among other offenses. Here is information from the latest local police reports:
Domestic battery
- A 24-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 900 block of North Virginia Lane was arrested about 8 a.m. Wednesday at his house on four counts of domestic battery. Police said the man admitted to battering others during an argument. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

- A woman told police that someone stole her wallet from her purse while she was shopping about 10:30 a.m. Monday at Whole Foods, 215 S. Route 83. The person then fraudulently used her credit card to buy gift cards. The woman was able to freeze her credit cards before any other fraudulent purchases were made.
Suspicious
- A woman told police she saw two men standing in her garage about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of South Mitchell Avenue. The men then left on foot. Nothing was stolen or damaged in the garage.

- A 62-year-old Chicago woman was arrested about 8 a.m. Thursday at The Grove of Elmhurst nursing home, 127 W. Diversey Ave., on a charge of battery. She was released.
Fraud
- A resident in the 500 block of North Myrtle Avenue told police Tuesday that someone pretended to be from Amazon calling about the resident's credit card. The suspect requested banking information. A payment was subsequently sent to the suspect.
Past closing time
- Shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday, an officer on a foot patrol found an 18-year-old Elmhurst man in Berens Park, 493 N. Oaklawn Ave., past closing time. The man was cited on a charge of possession of tobacco by a minor. He was released.
Retail theft
- A 25-year-old Denver man was arrested about 4 p.m. Monday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, on charges of retail theft and failure to wear a seatbelt. Police said the man was found with stolen merchandise. He was released.
