Domestics, Eatery Dispute: Elmhurst Cops

Local officers responded to three domestic disturbances in the last few days.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving domestic disturbances, an argument at a restaurant, trespassing, aggravated battery, DUI and disorderly conduct. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Domestic disturbances

  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 1 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of East North Avenue. A man alleged a woman hit him in the face, while the woman said the man tried to kick her. No arrests were made because of conflicting statements and no visible signs of injury. The man and woman agreed to separate for the evening.
  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 2:30 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of West Commonwealth. A woman alleged her ex-husband was banging on her bedroom door. The man was found to be drunk. They agreed to separate for the night.
  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 1 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of North Ridgeland Avenue. A man said he pushed another person in self-defense. The man then became uncooperative. No arrests were made.

  • A drunk person started an argument about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at Modern Plate restaurant, 119 N. York St., when he was denied re-entry. A no-trespass notice was given to the person.

Trespassing

  • The Elmhurst 255 apartment complex, 255 N. Addison Ave., told police Thursday that someone failed to return a key fob and later entered the property with another person. If identified, the man and woman are to be issued a no-trespass order. The man was described as black, 20 to 25, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, thin, and wearing a baseball cap, a black hooded sweatshirt with a white print on the center chest, white Adidas joggers, and black and white gym shoes. The woman was described as in her 20s, 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-6, having black medium-length hair, a denim top, a knee-length skirt and furry brown boots.

  • A 63-year-old Chicago woman was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Friday at York and Arthur streets on charges of DUI, aggravated battery to a police officer, resisting a police officer, possession of marijuana, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving an uninsured car, speeding, disobeying a traffic control device and failure to signal. Police said she became combative while she was in custody. She was released.

DUI

  • A 49-year-old Lockport woman was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Thursday at Route 83 and North Avenue on charges of DUI, failure to give information to an owner after striking an unattended vehicle or property, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving an uninsured car. Police said the woman hit a light pole. She was released.
  • A 30-year-old Westchester woman was arrested about 2 a.m. Friday at Roosevelt Road and Route 83 on charges of DUI, unlawful possession of marijuana, transportation of open alcohol and failure to signal. She was released.

Disorderly conduct

  • A 66-year-old Berwyn man was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of East Butterfield Road on a charge of disorderly conduct (befouling property). He was released.

Obstructing ID

  • A 21-year-old West Park, Florida, man was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Sunday at the Extended Stay America hotel, 550 W. Grand Ave., on a charge of obstructing identification.

Fugitive driver

  • About 7:30 a.m. Thursday at North Avenue and Indiana Street, a police officer tried to stop the driver of a Nissan Sentra for speeding. The driver sped away, last seen heading east on North. An investigation is pending.

Drunk

  • A drunk person became combative between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Friday at Courtyard by Marriott, 370 N. Route 83. Charges are pending for battery and resisting an officer.

Forgery

  • A person at The Roosevelt at Salt Creek retirement community placed several checks in her mailbox and was later notified that the checks were forged. A report was filed Friday. An investigation is pending.

Theft

  • A spare tire was stolen from a company vehicle about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at The Container Store, 953 N. Larch. An investigation is pending.

Armed robbery suspects

  • Elmhurst police helped capture two armed robbery suspects and their stolen car about 10:30 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of East St. Charles Road in Villa Park.

Retail theft

  • Two people stole several items shortly after midnight Sunday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. An investigation is pending.
